“We have a new resolve, a new resolution, a new vitality to,

take the country to new and greater heights”

                                                                                -Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Gandagi Mukt Bharat Or Clean India Mission is the most significant mission of

India in the history of our country. It's a cleanliness drive campaign which is an effort to

make the entire country clean. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday on August 8,

2020 launched "Gandagi Mukt Bharat", a week-long campaign for 'swachhata' in the

run-up for Independence Day in New Delhi. During this week, each day till August 15

will have special 'swachhata' initiatives in urban and rural India to reinforce the 'Jan

Andolan' for 'swachhata'.

According to a view of an anonymous person, "environmental cleanliness

means keeping our environment clean. If you go long enough without a bath, even the

fleas will leave you alone. I'll not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.

Cleanliness begins with the purity of your own mind, thought, and heart”.

The objective of Gandagi Mukt Bharat is that it is a national level campaign. It

was initiated by the Indian Govt recently to clean all the statutory region's rural and urban

cities and towns. This campaign includes the promotion of health and sanitation

programs in the rural areas, cleaning roads and street, promoting and creating

awareness on hygiene and to have clean and safe drinking water, and to increase the

awareness among the people through the awareness programs. The awareness

programs teach them proper waste segregation and disposal methods. The overall

campaign was initiated to create awareness among people.

One of the main problems among waste management is increasing in the

use of plastic. Now one of the main mottoes of during this time should have been that

“Say no to plastic”. Plastic is poisonous for our environment. Being non -biodegradable it

doesn't break down in the soil and causes soil pollution. Hence, plastics need to be

disposed of properly and safely so that no harm is caused to our environment.

Therefore, we need to cut down the usage of plastic bags and always dispose of them

in dustbins.

The next main problem is that the garbage is not disposed of appropriately. call it

negligence or laziness but we keep disposing of our garbage at the spot we ever we are

on the streets. We need to stop this littering and keep the street, woods, water bodies, and keep our surroundings clean. Make it a habit to properly dispose of the garbage into

the dustbin and also encourage others to do it.

The next is hygiene. Personal hygiene is how you care for your body. This

practice includes bathing, washing your hands, brushing your teeth, and more. The

spreading of diseases can be reduced if we maintain hygiene both indoor and

outdoor. In turn, it helps in destroying the breeding spots for mosquitoes, rats, and many

other pathogen carriers. Dirty hands are one of the main reasons for the spread of

diseases and everyone should clean their hands especially before eating the food. The

next is about “Air pollution”.

The problem of air pollution or any other kind of pollution has its roots in the

problem of overpopulation. Humans have created too much trash and there is too little

space on the planet to dump it in. The present problem which all know is the

Coronavirus is also known as the COVID-19. This virus will die if we maintain our

surroundings clean, sanitizing our hands, taking bath two times a day, and also wearing

masks .etc..

Therefore, an urgent need has arisen to tackle this issue straightaway. That's to say,

pollution is damaging our earth severely and we need to realize its effects and prevent

this damage. Therefore, we will have to take some steps by which we can decrease the

garbage pollution or the pollution caused by it, that is by recycling.

One example of it is done in Sweden where the garbage is bought from other

countries and is recycled which in turn produces energy to run their vehicles and also for

household purposes.

We can conclude that Gandagi Mukt Bharat Mission is a step closer toward a cleaner,

safer and greener India and this drive is possible if all the citizens could come together

and participate in this drive.
